Toothpaste inspection
Inspection of toothpaste is a process of quality control of goods at different stages of logistic chain, which minimizes major trade risks related to the likehood of cargo delivered or received not according to agreed specification, not being supplied in agreed quantity or with incomplete set of accompanying documents agreed between parties.
CISS GROUP provides toothpaste inspection services for large chemical and pharmaceutical enterprises and international trading companies in production warehouses, intermediate storage warehouses or in ports around the world.
The peculiarity of the inspection of toothpaste is that this chemical product can cause significant harm instead of health benefits. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), toothpaste may contain a toxic chemical described as residual diethylene glycol (DEG). DEG is used as an ingredient in antifreeze and is also used as a solvent.
To accurately determine the levels of residual diethylene glycol in toothpastes, a gas chromatographic mass spectrometry (GC-MS) procedure was developed. Each brand of toothpaste will contain several of the following ingredients: abrasive and foaming agent, unique flavors, fluorides, humidifier, bleaching agent, preservatives and water.
Highly professional inspectors and laboratory technicians of CISS GROUP carry out the inspection of toothpaste at any point of the supply chain.
The main stages of toothpastes inspection:
Incoming/outgoing toothpaste check.
It is carried out during the production, delivery and storage of toothpaste to pharmacological enterprises, temporary storage warehouses or containers.
Toothpastes are transported by all types of transport in covered vehicles that ensure the safety of products, in accordance with the rules of cargo transportation applicable to this type of transport. Toothpastes are stored at a temperature not lower than 0°C and not higher than 25°C in covered storage areas. It is not allowed to store pastes under direct sunlight and near heating devices.
The CISS GROUP inspector will visually assess the condition of the premises for its suitability to cargo storage; check the cargo itself so that it is intact, dry, not mixed with other cargo, and not damaged.
Acceptance of containers for cleanliness before loading toothpaste.
It is a visual inspection of containers for cleanliness and suitability for transportation of toothpaste. The inspector carefully inspects their internal surfaces, checks the integrity and operability of coolers, temperature sensors, locks, hinges and other fasteners on container doors, rubber seals of container doors.
Visual control of the loading process and sampling of toothpaste.
During the loading of toothpaste, the inspector controls the packaging, labeling, the number of units in each box, fixes the gross and net weight.

Laboratory tests of the quality of toothpaste.
In order to test the toothpaste, it is extremely important that the actual product is taken of the production line and is sent to reputable testing laboratory that can verify the chemical composition of the product.
We check the quality of toothpaste exclusively in accredited laboratories in accordance with the requirements of existing international standards. The standard indicators of toothpaste quality determination include: density, viscosity, color, odor, acid-base balance, composition, abrasiveness.
In addition to basic analyses, laboratory studies are conducted on the content of mesophilic aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms in toothpaste, the mass fraction of the amount of heavy metals, the mass fraction of fluoride. The mass fraction of fluoride is determined in fluoride-containing toothpaste. Tests may also be carried to determine the absence of harmful substances, such as: sodium, disodium EDTA, lauryl sulfate and sodium lauryl andparabens.
At the request of the client, during the loading process, we also carry out an organoleptic analysis for each lot.
Photo and video report.
The inspector records each stage of the inspection with photos and videos. All such data contain the date and time of recorded stage of inspection. At the end of the toothpaste inspection, CISS GROUP provides a detailed photo report of all stages of control and inspection.
Certificates.
Based on the results of the inspection the final certificate or reports are issued. The client can check the authenticity of the documents using a unique QR code, which is the "key" to the CISS GROUP website, where pdf versions of certificates are stored. Our certificates are protected with a digital cryptographic signature, which also guarantees their reliability and security.
