SIRE and vetting inspections
CISS GROUP marine specialists will provide assistance in preparing your ships for SIRE (Ships Inspection Report Programme and Vetting) inspections.
It is a process used by oil and chemical companies to assess the safety and suitability of ships used to transport products. It involves a thorough inspection of the ships and its equipment, and a review of the vessel’s crew and operating history.
The SIRE programme was originally launched in 1993 to specifically address concerns about sub-standard shipping. It is a unique tanker assessment tool of value to charterers, ships and terminal operators, government bodies concerned with ships safety.
The expansion of barges and small vessels into SIRE was inaugurated in 2004.
The SIRE programme requires a uniform inspection protocol that consist the following:
- Vessel Inspection Qquestionnaire (VIQ)
- Barge Inspection Questionnaire (BIQ)
- Uniform SIRE Inspection report
- Vessel Particulars Questionnaire (VPQ)
- Barge Particulars Questionnaire (BPQ)
SIRE inspection reports are valid for a period of 12 months from the date of recepit and maintaied in programme database for 2 years.
